SPUP Conducts Pre-Opening Activities

Inspired by its constant goal of developing highly qualified workforce, St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) conducted the "Pre-Opening Activities for A.Y. 2009-2010" last May 25-29, 2009 at the Mother Madeline Hall.
Dubbed as "A Journey towards Corporate Harmony", the five-day affair was attended by more than two-hundred faculty members from the different departments - Grade School, High School, School of Accountancy and Business (SAB),
School of Arts and Sciences & Teacher Education (SASTE), School of Health Sciences (SHS), and School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE). It was also participated in by the sisters of Saint Paul of Chartres (SPC), the
guidance counselors, and the librarians.
This endeavor highlighted knowledge sharing, film viewing, intellectual discussions, team building activities, and group workshop and presentation which were all geared towards corporate harmony.
On the first day, Sr. Nicole De Marie Dabalus, SPC, Vice-President for Academics set the mood for the week with her vibrant welcome and keynote address. Consequently, three Paulinian educators: Dr. Josephine Campañano, Ms. Lourdenia Taguiam, and Mr. Joseph Dayag
gave a backdrop on corporate harmony. Dr. Jesus Pizarro, Director of Research and Planning, disclosed the different activities for the week while Dr. Lucrina Tamayao presented the new lay Paulinian collaborators.
Three Paulinian speakers have also shared their expertise: Mrs. Elizabeth Baua on "The Heart of the University: The Caring Teacher"; Dr. Giged Battung on "Utilizing Delta Model in School Decision-Making"; and, Mr. Freshnedie Cellona on "Actualizing Environmental Stewardship: The Project SWEEP."
Atty. Domingo Egon Cayosa, SPUP Legal Counsel, reminded the teachers with their rights, duties and responsibilities with his talk: "The Responsibilities of the Teacher: A Legal Perspective".
Echo seminars on Problem-based Learning and Whole Brain Approach were also given time as Mr. Alvin Aquino and Dr. Billy Siddayao elucidated each approach.
The tech-savvy IT educators, spearheaded by Mr. George Biscera, Mr. Richie Avena, Mr. Dirk Tuddao, impressed their fellow participants with the creative and innovative recaps of actviities - the silent movie presentations.
The participants - through the engaging team-building activities - have found delight with the unique cheers-and-yells performance rendered by each group in the penultimate part of this endeavor. Also, the top three performing groups were given special prizes while everyone was given a prize courtesy of the
Business Affairs Office. Before the participants parted ways, each received a gift from a new friend through the amazing gift-giving strategy applied by the organizers.
