SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF THAILAND (SLCT) sent one of its English language lecturers, Mr. Songwut Burimjitt, to SPUP as exchange faculty for Summer 2010.

During his stay in SPUP, Mr. Burimjitt demonstrated to the ABLL and MA English students how to use case study in teaching Business Writing. He also shared his expertise by organizing seminars and conducting lectures to undergraduate as well as graduate students.

When asked about his teaching experience at SPUP, Burimjitt said, “It was a great, impressive experience. I enjoyed the company of students. I can say that Filipino students are by nature active learners. They are raising queries and clarifying points.”

Further, he said that he was treated as a team player by his fellow educators. Instead of being given ready-to-use modules and teaching materials, he was encouraged to prepare modules, which allowed him to share his knowledge and skills.

Regarding his stay, the Thai educator added that he is so thankful for the hospitality of Paulinians, especially the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres.”

Queried on the differences of Philippine education and that of Thailand, Burimjitt quipped that curriculum in the Philippines is generalist in orientation while in Thailand, there are specific areas of specializations. For example, SPUP offers Master of Arts in Education major in English; whereas SLCT offers Master of Arts in Linguistics or Master of Arts in Language Translation.
