Aimed at improving the research culture in Cagayan Valley, an SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) seminar was held at the Computer Laboratory A, Lorenzo Ruiz Building, St Paul University Philippines, on May 27-29, 2010.
The regional seminar-workshop was given by Dr. Jesus Pizarro, Director of the Research Planning and Publications Office, and Mrs. Pilar Acorda, SASTE Academic Team Leader. Both had been trained on the use of the software at the University of the Philippines-Diliman Campus,Quezon City.
“You may contact me if you’ll encounter problems on the use of the software so I could relay it to my fellow members in the SPSS Users Group of the Philippines,” Dr. Pizarro, an active officer in the organization, said after his presentation.
Modules 4 and 5 of the software will be given in the sequel of the seminar-workshop which will be conducted sometime this July.
“I’ve come to appreciate Statistics with ease in running data through this wonderful software,” one of the participants echoed after the three-day academic endeavor.
The software, recently named Predictive Analytics Software (PASW), originally stands for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
