After the academic year, St. Paul University Philippines gave respite to all its employees by organizing a spiritual retreat for them.
Held at the University Chapel and the Mere Madeleine Hall, the three-day activity was attended by the staff and personnel on May 27-29, and the faculty, on May 31-June 2, respectively.
The retreat master was Msgr. Joemarie Delgado of the Diocese of Iloilo. Msgr. Delgado was also the retreat master last year.
During the retreat, the participants were all stay-ins at the International Students’ Residence (ISR), inside the SPUP campus.
Situating everything in context during his sharings, Msgr. Joemarie explained very relevant Pauline Letters and stressed the importance of becoming a responsible Christian through the Iloilo-born philosophy, “AKITALIBUTAN.”
“Learn by heart AKITALIBUTAN. Anuman ang gagawin, laging isipin ang ‘Ako, Tayo at ang Lahat dito sa Mundo,’” implored the eloquent retreat master.
Everyone was engaged. Each of the participants was encouraged to ponder on becoming a responsible Christian through his/her personal, professional and environmental plans for the coming academic year.
At the end of the retreat, varied reactions resounded in the Hall. Some accepted that they were enlightened; others conveyed the “light feeling brought about by the unfathomable depth of God’s love.”
