PNAA holds 7th International Nursing Conference

Over 300 members of the various Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAAl, as well as members of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) and the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing, attended the 7th International Nursing Conference at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines,January 7-9, 2010.

With the theme: “The Intersection of PRISM and Globalization: Uniting Worlds Apart,” the conference aimed at enhancing nursing partnership across the globe, which is expected to help address various issues confronting Filipino nurses worldwide.

Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC, SPUP President, attended the said conference. With her were the Dean of the School of Health Sciences (SHS), Sr. Trecella May Macalam, SPC, and four SHS faculty: Mr. Alvin Aquino, Mr. Rei Kristoffer Ibuña, Mr. Dirksen Taguiam and Ms. Emma Juria.

Mr. Felix Jurado, PNAA President, said that by conducting mentoring programs through the international conference held every two years, PNAA is helping Filipino nurses increase their competency.

Meanwhile, the PNAA is coordinating closely with nursing schools and other institutions to elevate the quality of nursing education in the country. Such move is expected to increase the nurses’ competency and job qualification.
