TP scribe bags prescon medal

Contending with about 50 young poets, Jaylord Pagunuran, The Paulinian (TP) associate editor, brought home a certificate of recognition and a customized medal in the recently concluded Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference held at Consuelo Hotel, Lingayen, Pangasinan, February 8-10, 2010.
Pagunuran, a junior AB Language and Literature student, received the medal for his English poem titled “Prism.”
With two other Paulinian qualifiers: Troy Pimentel (TP Literary Graphics Editor) and Louise Angelique Cepeda (TP Feature Editor), Pagunuran was accompanied by Mr. Joseph Dayag, his coach and TP adviser.
One hundred (100) higher learning institutions from Luzon and Cebu participated in the conference, which was attended by 619 participants.
Regional Press Conference
Last December, Pagunuran clinched 2nd place in opinion writing and 4th place in poetry writing-English in the Region 02 Higher Education Press Conference held at Hotel Kimikarlai, Tuguegarao City.
Meanwhile, Pimentel bagged 5th place in literary graphics illustration; Cepeda clinched 5th place in feature writing-Filipino.
For group competition, SPUP’s official publication The Paulinian (TP) was awarded 2nd best magazine, as it reaped 2nd place in four categories: developmental communication page, feature page, news page and cover design. Its literary page won 3rd place, while its page design grabbed 5th place.
