SPUP honors Bannawag Magazine; plants Diamond Jubilee Tree, 75 seedlings

bannawag magazineThe Paulinian administrators, together with the personages of Tuguegarao City and the different national government offices gave tribute to the Bannawag magazine on its 75th anniversary by planting the Diamond Jubilee Tree on the grounds of the Plaza de Martires, St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Spearheaded by the University President, Sr. Remy Angela Junio, SPC, and Tuguegarao City Vice-Mayor Danilo Baccay, the SPUP directors, principals, deans and guests planted 75 Kamias seedlings at the SPUP High School Garden.

The last Bannawag Diamond Jubilee Tree was planted by the University President, Sr. Remy Angela Junio, assisted by SPUP Legal Counsel Atty. Domingo Egon Cayosa; DENR Regional Director Laureano Lingan; Vice-Mayor Danilo Baccay, Department of Tourism Regional Director bannawag magazine 02Blessida Diwa, SPUP Alumni Association former President Ma. Belen Lim; SPUP Employees Association President Lourdenia Taguiam; Vice-President for Academics Sr. Nicole de Marie Dabalus; Vice-President for Administration Sr. Ma. Adellina Portillo; Vice-President for Christian Formation Sr. Rosella Faypon; Vice-President for Finance Sr. Luisa Marcelino; Principal Linda Tungcul; and City Councilor Ronald Ortiz.

Before the planting of the Diamond Jubilee Tree, Dr. Jimmy Domingo, Editorial Consultant of Bannawag, read the rationale of the activity.

Domingo disclosed that 75 Diamond Jubilee Trees were planted all over the world to symbolize Bannawag’s 75th anniversary and that the 75th tree is to be planted at SPUP.

The unveiling of the Bannawag Diamond Jubilee Tree marker ensued. Its text was read by Director Jeremy Godofredo Morales of the Office of Student Affairs.

Meanwhile, in her acknowledgment, Sr. Remy thanked Bannawag for choosing SPUP for the culminating activity of Bannawag’s tree planting activity. She also assured that the University will take care of the symbolic tree.
