SPUP top brass attend national environmental assembly

Sr. Remy Angela Junio, SPC, St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) President; Sr. Nicole de Marie Dabalus, SPC, Vice-President for Academics; and Mr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales, Director for Student Affairs, participated in the 14th National Senior Educators' Assembly on Environmental Protection and Management at Hotel Stotsenberg, Clarkfield, Pampanga, November 25-27, 2009.
With the theme 'The Environmental Awareness and Education Law (RA 9512) - The Challenges in Building a Climate Change-Resilient Nation,” the conference featured the following:
- Millenium Development Goal Fund Project on Strengthening Institutional Capacity to Adapt to Climate Change delivered by Sheila Encabo, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Director (Agriculture).
- Mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation in the Higher Education Institution's Curriculum, and Initial Experiences for Integration in Elementary and High School Curriculumelucidated by Thaddeus Lawas, researcher from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).
- Greening Industries Towards a Low-Carbon Economy, and the Challenges to Academe of the Manila Declaration for Green Industry in Asia shared by Lisa Antonio, Executive Director, Philippine Business for Environment (PBE).
During the assembly, three higher learning institutions ( Palawan State University, Central Luzon State University, and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture) presented their sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives.
Meanwhile, the administrators were able to form partnership and linkages with other institutions with the same advocacy on environment like the Palawan State University, Angeles University and Central Bicol State University.
