St. Paul University Philippines Update; October 17, 2009

Date posted: 10.30.2009

Five Chinese nationals enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program of St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), Tuguegarao City, Cagayan dropped out and left without informing the University authorities.

SPUP is cooperating and coordinating with Philippine and Chinese institutions to ensure that the five students are accounted for and safely reach China and their families. Most recent information indicates that two of them are back in China and that the other three are in Makati City and are soon to leave the Philippines for China.

Today, SPUP conferred the BSN degree to 15 Chinese nationals during its October 2009 Commencement Exercises graced by Senior Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for International Trade Relations, Thomas G. Aquino, whose initiative opened the opportunity for SPUP to establish linkage with stakeholders from the People’s Republic of China. The 15 students are the first batch of graduates of the International BSN Program conceptualized by SPUP in coordination with the DTI. Considering its initial success, the program continues.

Two of the Chinese graduates were baptized into the Catholic Faith last October 2, 2009, after receiving instructions in the Faith.
