SAB sponsors 10th Regional Business Expo

The School of Accountancy and Business (SAB), in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region 2, hosted the 10th Regional Business Exposition at the University Gymnasium, August 19-21, 2009.
With the theme: “Turning Challenges to Business Opportunities Through Corporate Harmony,” the annual event staged skills and academic competitions, technical sessions with open fora, and several entertaining activities.These activities were held to discover and enhance the potentials and competencies of the students and to update them on business issues, improvements and trends in the business milieu.
CHED Regional Director Evelyn L. Pascua, CESO III, highlighted in her keynote address that the business education curriculum should be attuned to business issues. She also shared facts on the aging workforce, corporate demands, and productivity in the country.
“Proficiency, knowledge and expertise are the means to meet the current business challenges in the country,” Dr. Pascua added.
On the first day, Mr. Randy Ting, entrepreneur and former mayor, talked on how to deal with the competitive and challenging business environment. He discussed the eight factors of corporate success.
On the second day, Mrs. Belen B. Lim, CPA, Golden Press Manager, related how she was able to run a business amidst crises. She pointed six challenges - capital, government regulation, technology, increased automation, culture and seasonal and economic factors - that every entrepreneur must surpass.
Meanwhile, the University Legal Counsel who is also an incorporator, Atty. Domingo “Egon” Cayosa , talked on doing business in Jesus’ way. He presented three managerial strengths: Self- Mastery, Action, and Relationship. Atty. Cayosa underscored that every work should start and end with love.
For the last day, the participants watched the Business Quiz Bee, Product Development Planning, Accounting Quiz Bee, Case Analysis and HRTM Olympics as the cream of the crop showcased their brains and talents.
