Paulinians attend advocacy confabs On Project WATCH

Having echoed Project WATCH (We Advocate Time-Consciousness and Honesty) in the Pre-opening Exercises for SY 2009-2010, the SPUP WATCH Point Person Mr. Sergio Imperio conducted a series of WATCH seminar attended by the Paulinian student-leaders, faculty, and support and maintenance staff.

With 211 college student-leaders, the first seminar-workshop on punctuality was conducted on July 10, 2009 at the Damascus Hall. The group, which consists of the SBS officers, classroom officers and NSTP officers, came up with suggestions on how to promote the advocacy.

The second advocacy seminar was attended by the staff and the maintenance personnel on July 28, 2009. They were given the self-monitoring tool to help them become more aware of the essence of time, which is a necessary prerequisite in forming the value of punctuality.

Finally, the faculty had their share on August 6, 2009 at the Mother Madeleine Hall. Mr. Imperio presented the WATCH Module and underscored that the Advocacy is anchored on habit–formation. They were also given the self-monitoring tool.

On Env’tal Stewardship

Paulinians should become environmental stewards.

This was the noble end-goal of the Environmental Stewardship Seminar implemented by the University on June 22-27, 2009 at the SPUP Gym.

The resource speakers - select faculty members from the different schools who are members of the SPUP Environmental Stewardship Team - were given 13 minutes each to discuss the environmental principles.

They explained these to let the participants realize their role as responsible environment stewards and children of God.

The comprehensive principles were adapted from the book Seven Lenses or environmental principles as if adults mattered penned by Angelina Galang and her associates.

These principles are: Nature knows best; All forms of life are important; Everything is connected to everything else; Everything changes; Everything must go somewhere; Ours is a finite Earth; and, Nature is beautiful and we are stewards of God’s creation.

(Editor’s Note: A feature article on the environmental principles will come out in the next issue.)
