KDCTrainsDisabilities_01The St. Paul University Philippines - Knowledge for Development Center (SPUP-KDC) in partnership with the Breaking Barriers for Young Adults with Disabilities (BBY) is assisting Young Adults with Disabilities (YAWDS) from the City of Tuguegarao and the nearby municipalities of Cagayan.

With the state-of–the-art facilities of SPUP-KDC, which include the computer software Job Access with Speech (JAWS), and the services of the expert trainers and KDC staff led by Mr. Ronald Sumait, the training was started last August 01, 2009.

In the training, the disabled young adults are given the opportunity to enhance their computer skills through JAWS.

JAWS is a screen reader that “reads” and converts to audio whatever text or operation that appears in the computer screen.

KDCs all over the country aim to make information available to persons with disabilities; but, only SPUP and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) offer JAWS.

To possess the necessary skills, the participants report to the SPUP-KDC every Saturday.
