Paulinian attends youth training, interfaith consultation in Thailand

Mr. Randymax M. Bulaquit, third year BSE student of St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), represented the country in the “Youth Training and Interfaith Consultation on Climate Change” held at Bangkok, Thailand last September 27, 2009 - October 3, 2009.
In partnership with the Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN), the activity was organized by the Asian Resource Foundation (ARF).
The training and seminar aimed at: (1) building awareness about the impact of climate change, and (2) encouraging the participants to engage in the green program campaign.
Dr. Yunus Yasin, Director on Environment of Indonesia, introduced “Climate Change and its Relevance to Life and Livelihood.”
“Climate change is a very common problem of the world today because of our lifestyle and discipline,” Dr. Yasin reiterated.
Dr. Sabine Minninger from Copenhagen Germany discussed: “Factors that contribute to Climate Change: Linkages between Micro to Macro by Personal Behavior Food Habit and Consumer’s Culture.”
Dr. Minninger stressed that industries, factories, modernization and transport system are the major causes of climate change which resulted to our problems nowadays.
Meanwhile, Mr. Stuart Scott of Copenhagen, Germany tackled: “The Role of Youth: An Experience of Climate Change Action Network” (CAN) and facilitated the Advocacy Network Skill Building.
“In guiding, directing and educating our youth, we can have a society where each man works not only for himself but for others as well,” highlighted Mr. Scott.
After the seminar, Mr. Bulaquit toured Bangkok and the UN Offices in Thailand.
