LIVING UP TO ITS COMMITMENT to provide nursing students with the basic competencies in the management and provision of health care services. St. Paul University Philippines has recently forged ties with the Health Care Advantage Institute (HCAI).

Dedicated to help improve the delivery of patient care, HCAI aims to bridge the gap between the academe and the healthcare industry by training healthcare professionals on international standards as well as providing healthcare practitioners a venue to hone their skills.

HCAI trains healthcare professionals using the standard that majority of hospitals in the United States use as a measure of excellence. This standard is called the Joint Commission on Accreditaton of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). It is geared towards achieving optimal performance in which the professional must possess impeccable cognitive, technical and behavior skills.

As SPUP is now an HCAI partner, Paulinian nursing students are expected to become more globally-competitive and confident so that when they graduate they will be preferred by potential employers.

Through the interactive learning and state-of-the-art virtual skills lab. Paulian nursing students will already have the time and the tools which would prepare them for the differetn jobs in the nursing profession.

The clinical skills lab area consists of large laboratories, ICU rooms, nurse stations and classrooms, and lfelike mannequins. At persent, the equipment in the lab is being upgraded.
