St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) was cited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB Region II) for promoting a sustainable environment geared towards the total development of students and for providing a conducive learning environment.
Being the regional winner, SPUP will represent Cagayan Valley to the 2009 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools.
The areas evaluated were: environment-related aspects of the school’s policy, environment-friendly school operations, presence of environmental programs, environment-related features of the school curriculum, presence of vibrant eco-organizations, and presence of partners and linkages in environment programs/projects.
The distinction added honor to the University for its environment-related endeavors. In July 2008, SPUP bagged First Place (Elementary to College) in the Search for the Most Active/Supportive Environmentalist from the Youth Sector by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region II; and, in April 2009, it won Third Place for its Environmental Stewardship and Health Research Program given by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region II.
Under the direct supervision of the University President Sr. Remy Angela Junio, SPC – the SPUP Environmental Management Team is headed by the Management Representative Mr. Freshnedie Cellona.
