The DEPED-TEC Teacher Induction Training Program

The Department of Education Region 02 and the Teacher Education Council, in collaboration with the School of Education of SPUP conducted a weeklong Teacher Induction Training program for the new and locally-funded teachers from the public school sector of Region 02 last May 18-22, 2009 at SPUP.

The said training focused on the three tool subjects namely English, Mathematics and Science with sessions focusing on content and strategies. The trainors were from the DepEd Regional Office and St. Paul University Philippines.

The plenary sessions tackled topics such as DepEd Policies and Standards, Trends in Basic Education, NCBTS/TEDP Experiential Learning Courses, Standard Competencies in English, Mathematics and Science, Using Educational Technology in the Classroom, Values Integration in the Curriculum, Assessment Strategies, Materials Development and Classroom Management.

The first batch of participants composed of teachers hired from SY 2005 onwards and totalled to more than 200. Majority of whom were from the province of Isabela.. They were housed at the SPUP International Students' Residence for five days and were provided with free meals and snacks sponsored by DepEd Region 02.

The second phase of the training will be conducted in October of this year with participants who were not accommodated during the first batch.
