In collaboration with St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), the Philippine Council for Health Research Development and Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium (CVHRDC) sponsored a one-day Strategic Planning-Workshop on July 30, 2009 at the SPUP Guidance Center.

The activity was focused on the theme: “Revisiting the North Luzon Health Research Agenda for a More Responsive Cagayan Valley Health Research and Development Consortium.”

This was aimed at identifying the three priority areas of Cagayan Valley that will serve as the focus of the CVHRDC’s research activities in the next five years; organizing a group or researchers and institutions that will conduct a systematic review, develop research proposals and carry out the researches for a particular priority research area; developing a timetable for the activities described; and, recommending areas of support from the CVHRDC or PNHRS for the planned activities.

At the end of the session, the participants came up with: a list of three top priority areas for Region 2; a list of team leader and members (individual & Institutional) for the three study groups; a timetable of the proposed activities for each priority research area; and, a list of recommendations from the study groups.

The participants were from the CVHRDC member-institutions- both government and non-government sectors. The participating institutions include the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Health, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, National Economic and Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education, Commission on Population, PHILHEALTH, Cagayan Valley Medical Center, St. Paul University Philippines, University of St. Louis, University of La Sallette, St. Mary’s University, Cagayan State University, Isabela State University, Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines, and Cagayan Colleges Tuguegarao.
