SPUP Alumni Gather for the Grand Homecoming

On January 31, 2009, SPUP welcomes back some of its alumni who joyfully came for the Grand Alumni Homecoming.

The celebration started with a parade around the city and a Eucharistic Celebration presided by Msgr. Benjamin Lasam, who is an alumnus of the University. A program followed thereafter, honoring the Jubilarians for this year. The gathering was filled with fun and excitement as Paulinians reminisced together their memorable experiences with the sisters, their teachers and their classmates.

The Homecoming was made possible through the concerted efforts of Sister Marie Marcelle Navarro, SPC, the Alumni Director and the SPUP Alumni Association headed by its president, Mr. Danilo Baccay, the Vice Mayor of Tuguegarao City.

SPUP Holds Kapehan with Director Labutong of TESDA

On January 29, 2008, the SPUP administrators headed by the president, Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC, gathered at the Board Room for a Kapehan with Director Labutong of TESDA.

Sister Remy gave a very heartwarming opening message emphasizing on the necessity of revisiting the different academic curricula of the University such that the courses offered are relevant to the short-term courses advocated by TESDA and that these shall help address the plight of the students in this on-going global crisis.

In response, Director Labutong identified all the short – term courses which can be offered by the different academic departments based on their existing curricula. She further emphasized that scholarship slots will be granted to the University and interested applicants to these scholarships can be both entertained by SPUP and TESDA.

An open forum followed after the discussion of Director Labutong to shed light to some of the questions and issues raised by the SPUP administrators.

SPUP Initiates Kapehan with Governor Alvaro Antonio

Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC, in her desire to strengthen the cooperation between SPUP and the Province of Cagayan, initiated a Kapehan with the Honorable Governor Alvaro Antonio and his Executive Staff.

On January 28, 2009, the SPUP academic team headed by top management then gathered at the Board Room and had a fruitful interaction with Governor Antonio. The governor proudly discussed about his ten-point agenda for the province and emphasized on his advocacy for transparency and good governance. He also highlighted on the necessity of forging ties with the academe in implementing his programs specifically on efforts pertaining to the environment and the youth sector.

The Kapehan ended with an open forum where questions from the SPUP administrators were addressed by the Governor and his Executive staff.
