Adduru is 2009 TOSP Region 2 Awardee

Shayne P. Adduru, BSA Graduate of the St. Paul University Philippines, was proclaimed one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines - Region 2 on April 29, 2009 at the Mo. Madeleine Hall, Learning Resource Center, St. Paul University Philippines.

Together with the two other Paulinian Finalists in the Regional Search, Krishan M. Soriano (BSN 4) and Marie Joyce B. Duruin (BSIT 4), Miss Adduru and the other awardees were judged based on: a) Academic Performance Achievement Profile which depicts the scholarly preparation of the nominees through their general weighted average and academic honors/awards received; b) Leadership Achievement Profile which includes co- and extra- curricular activities such as participation in organizations, programs and activities, including awards and contests won; and c) Social Responsibility Profile which dwelt much on how the nominees have involved in community development projects and activities, including awards received related to this.

Moreover, the search included two parts which are a) Bid Book or Portfolio Assessment where the nominees submitted their compilations of participations and awards and were screened by the Regional Executive Committee and Judges; and b) Interview of the finalists by the panel of judges.

The 10 awardees shall be Region 2's contenders in the national search.

SPUP is Best in the Philippines for Student Services

St. Paul University Philippines was proclaimed National Winner in the 2008 Search for Outstanding Student Services Program by the Commission on Higher Education on April 17, 2009 at the UP-NCPAG Assembly Hall, Manila.

Declared tie with Far Eastern University as National Winner, St. Paul University Philippines was also awarded as Best in Luzon and Best in Region 02 respectively for its outstanding student welfare and development programs and services and for being a model of quality standards set by the CHED for a healthy and conductive environment for maximum student growth and performance.

During the validation of documents through interview and ocular inspection, the members of the panel of evaluators from the CHED Central Office gave a "Very Impressive" remark on the best practices, programs and facilities of the university on student affairs and services. The areas evaluated were: Information and Orientation Service, Scholarships and Financial Assitance, Health Services, Guidance and Counseling Services, Food Services, Career and Placement Services, Safety and Security Services, Student Discipline, Student Housing, Services for Students with Special Needs, International Student Services, Admission/Retention/Intervention Services, Student Organization and Activities, Student Government, Leadership Training Programs, Student Publication, Community Appreciation, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation of Student Affairs and Services, Use of Student Affairs and Services Funds, Sports Development Programs, Cultural Programs, Social & Community Involvement, and Multi-faith Services.

Upon receipt of the award, Sister Remy Angela Junio, spc, University President, reiterated in her acceptance message that such merit is a great manifestation that the administrators, faculty and staff of SPUP live up to the university's quality policy that is "to provide quality, Catholic, Paulinian education in caring environment."

All in all, a marker as National Winner, a plaque as Best in Luzon, a Certificate as Best in Region 2 and Php200,000 were received by Sister Remy Angela Junio, together with Mrs. Juana Rivera (Director of Student Services), Mr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director of Student Affairs) and Mr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Adviser of the Supreme Board of Students Council). With them at the awarding were Dr. Virginia Resurreccion (Regional Director of CHED RO2) and Dr. Antonio Talamayan (Assistant Chief of CHDRO2)
