Philippine Consulate General in the US Support SPUP's Promotion Campaign

The Philippine Consulate General in the United States, Honorable Mary Jo Aragon, was distinctly impressed with the efforts of SPUP to cross cultural barriers and promote its Nursing Curricula overseas during her meeting with Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC at the Philippine Consulate Office in California on August 12, 2008.

Honorable Aragon expressed her support to the noble goal of St. Paul University Philippines to invite Filipino-Americans and Americans to study in the University. She applauded the vision of Sister Remy to help students from the United States to earn a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines in order to increase the health care workforce of the United States and prevent the massive departure of qualified nurses from the country.

The meeting with Honorable Aragon culminated over lunch hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Cacacho is One of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines

mars cacachoMr. Mc Allen Reonel Sebastian Cacacho was recently awarded as one of the winners of the prestigious annual search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) sponsored by the RFM group of companies. He stood out among top 30 finalist who were all gathered at the Malacañang Palace on July 16, 2008.

His remarkable contributions in the fields of Science and Information Technology have earned for him the admiration of the panel of judges which was spearheaded by Senator Franklin Drilon and other known personalities in the country. Mr. Cacacho invented a remote thermometer when he was still in high school and has continually improved this in the succeeding years. He just graduated in March 2008 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

In attendance during the awarding ceremony were officials from the Commission on Higher Education, school administrators and faculty members, and the parents of the awardees. Mr. Cacacho was accompanied by the SPUP President, Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC, the Dean of School of Information Technology and Engineering, Sister Jocelyn Casio, SPC and other administrators from the University.

Ms. Gail Mila who finished Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Mr. Mark Anthony Articulo who finished Bachelor of Science in Public Administration were also among the top 30 TOSP finalists who were recognized during the awarding ceremony. the entire Paulinian family takes pride in being the only school in the region with three finalists to the top 30.
