The President of St. Paul University Philippines, Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC, recently traveled to the United States with the Coordinator of Public Affairs/Center for Professional Development, Dr. Ma. Teresa A. Maguigad on August 10 - 28, 2008. This trip was pursued to explore more opportunities to link with prestigious institutions which can further improve the different academic curricula of the University.
One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Christine Lynne School of Nursing which is known to the world as an advocate of caring as the heart of its nursing curriculum. Dr. Nino Locsin, one of the visiting professors of the School of Nursing in St. Paul University Philippines and who belongs to the faculty of Florida Atlantic University, facilitated this promising opportunity.
Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC was privileged to meet Dr. Anne Boykin, the Dean of the School of Nursing. The short visit fostered the possibility of a faculty exchange program every summer between SPUP and her University. Dr. Boykin favorably responded to the proposal of Sister Remy that some faculty members can be immersed in her school's academic curriculum in order for the latter to have a conspicuous experience on how caring can be integrated and promoted in every academic course of FAU.
The meeting of two nursing leader - educators in the world, through short, is remarkably as it opens new doors for learning among blossoming educators in the nursing profession.
