Message to the Graduates

Date Posted: 03.25.2008

Dear 2008 Graduates,

Dios nikamu

Congratulations to you and to your parents and benefactors!

I am deeply honored to have served you during your years of formation in St. Paul University Philippines. Tedious or hectic as the semesters may have been, you were still able to reach the finish line of your college life; the finish line that eventually opens a lot more opportunities for you to grow and to develop even more.

Having been your Director for Student Affairs and concurrently the Adviser of the Supreme Board of Students Council, I have witnessed how you were in both your joyous and frivolous moments. I have seen you leap, jump and walk with so much pride and honor when you have received an appreciation or recognition from university/school authorities. On the other note, I felt and saw how dismayed and somber you were when you did not make it in class or in a competition - you almost even did not want to show up in school, did you?

But above all else, YOU MADE IT! You have surpassed all those obstacles! You have risen above all the challenges and struggles of student life.

Your college years were really full. You became complete. You were given so many inputs on academics which you need in the elevation of your knowledge and skills in your chosen fields of endeavor. You were guided by your professors and instructors and the sisters so that you would become more confident when you mingle with other people and eventually, when you handle life's demands. Most importantly, you were molded to be Christian Paulinian students to become God-fearing, service-oriented and humble professionals and public servants.

I now set you off. Go and make a good change in your work areas. Proclaim the good News of salvation to your colleagues and friends. Do not forget the Paulinian core values - Christ-centeredness, Community, Charism, Charity, and Commitment to Mission; and always bear in your heart and mind the Paulinian marks of simplicity, warmth and tranquil daring.

Live a Paulinian life. Be of service to God and to others.

Caritas Christi Urget Nos!
