The Department of Trade and Industry through Mr. Archimedes Gomez, the current Trade Representative in the Philippine Trade Center in Los Angeles California, started to promote the Nursing Curricula of St. Paul University Philippines among leaders in the United States. Mr. Gomez facilitated the business meetings attended by Sister Remy Angela Junio, SPC and Dr. Ma. Teresa Maguigad in the States of Houston and California.

On August 12, 2008, Sister Remy delivered her keynote address in the International Form of Nursing Global Leaders organized by Dr. William Prouty, the Director for Global Workforce in California.

This was participated in by prominent nursing educator leaders in the United States and Mexico. SPUP happens to be the only school in Asia to be invited in this highly prestigious forum.

In her keynote address, Sister Remy emphasized the need to cross global barriers to respond to the increasing demand for health workers across the globe. She highlighted her vision to entice Filipino-American and American students to study at St. Paul University Philippines at a minimal cost. She was straightforward in saying that there is a need to seriously consider the ethical implications of pulling out nurses from the Philippines and leaving its health care service to a substandard level. According to her, one of the ways to address this issue is to help educate Americans with Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at the outset, graduates will go back to the United States and fill-in the need for more nurses in its different hospitals. The participants to the forum were impressed with the advocacy of Sister Remy and manifested interest to link with SPUP.

Another fruitful meeting was fostered by DTI with the executive Assistant of the City Mayor of Houston, Mrs. Helen Chang and leaders from the Texas Methodist Hospital, one of the most advanced in medical research across the globe. These officials were awed with Sister Remy's proposal to increase the health workforce of Texas Methodist Hospital by helping educate students from Houston City. Mrs. Chang readily offered to make proposals to big business industries so that scholarships can be given to interested students who would like to study at St. Paul University Philippines.

With these new international linkages, SPUP is expanding its global allies in the different parts of the world.
