CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY
Responsible conduct must be observed in the library at all times.
Upon entry into the library, all library patrons are expected to observe the rule of silence and respect the rights of others to study in a quiet environment.
Causing any disturbance or engaging in a behavior, which interferes with normal use of the library including (but not limited to) verbal abuse, threats of violence, offensive sexual behavior, noise, sleeping, and the use of cellular telephones in study areas are not permitted inside the library.
Smoking, eating, and drinking are STRICTLY not permitted in the library.
It is the responsibility of the Library staff to enforce this rule and as such is authorized to request students and other patrons who engage in disruptive and inappropriate behaviors to leave the library.
Student identification card is required every time a student enters the library.
Library card is required every time a student enters the library. Every student applies for a library card duly signed by the librarian at the start of a school year.
Bags and other kinds of receptacle are not to be brought inside the library. Library patrons should deposit their bags in the depository counter upon entering the library. However, cash or any valuables should be removed, for the library shall not be held accountable for whatever is lost in the bags when deposited. A claim tag is issued upon deposit of a bag. Lost claim tag is assessed a fee for replacement purposes.
Upon exit, library patrons are required to present books, folders, and other kinds of receptacle to the checker. Faculty members may bring their bags inside the library but are required to open and show the contents of their bags to the checker upon exit. This is a standard operating procedure in an open stack system.
Any damage on returned books or periodicals is charged to the last borrower. Borrowers are therefore warned to inspect the library materials they check out before leaving the circulation counter.
In the event that the reported lost book is found prior to replacement or payment, only the usual overdue fine is charged.
STEALING OR MUTILATION of any library material is punishable. Anyone found guilty of stealing and mutilating any library material will be liable to grave disciplinary action as stipulated in the SPUP student handbook.
The Library strives to provide all users with a welcoming and safe environment that promotes learning. To ensure fostering of such an environment, all users are required to comply with the Library policies. The Library welcomes visitors-patrons who are not affiliated with St. Paul University Philippines provided they comply with established policies.
Visitors may use the library facilities upon presentation of a valid ID and a certification from their respective librarians. Visitors are also charged a fee at the Circulation Counter. They are not allowed however, to borrow books for home use.
