STUDENT SERVICES
INFORMATION and COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY
Formally institutionalized in 1996 as the Management Information System, the ICT gathers, stores, and provides data used for managerial decision-making and policy formulation. The facility houses the data bank of the University.
The ICT is a critical department in any organization at this age of information. This department is in charge of the integration of information technology in the
university administration; in the organizational change management and organizational interdependence with reference to the University system; and in the enhancement of school's primary service of education. In modern education, information technology has become an essential tool for instruction. It provides important supplementary services i.e. computer-enhanced presentations, computer-based learning materials, internet and distance education.
Aside from being responsible for the operations of the University's automated systems, the ICT is also in charge of the supervision, utility and maintenance of computer facilities of the University.
The Guidance Center exercises supervision over the Guidance and Counseling programs of the Grade School, High School and the College level. It administers Psychological testing, organizes orientation programs, career information, counseling and placement services.
It provides counseling services for the emotionally and socially troubled of students for their total development as a person or for them to better adjust to their environment and to society.
It also conducts or sponsors lectures and workshops on interpersonal skills, stress management among others. By conducting psychological testing, it helps students set clear career goals and paths in relation to their interests, personal goals and demands of society.
In this facility, the faculty, support staff, maintenance personnel and students receive medical and dental care. Beds are available for lying-in patients.
In recognition of the importance of maintaining the optimum health of every student which is vital for the realization of their full potential as a person, the University clinic was set up for the care of students' health including emotional and psychological well-being and for the promotion of health care management or hygiene.
Open during the whole working hours of the day, the clinic gives students and all other members of the St. Paul community, emergency first aid and health care for injuries, illness or emergencies and the need for immediate treatment while in school.
The clinic is staffed with a full time registered medical practitioner and is supported by assistants who are sometimes health science students who are on the job training. Over-the-counter drugs are administered in the school clinic. But for more complicated cases, the clinic only administers temporary relief to patients and provides prescriptions or recommendations to specialists. Incidentally, consistent with our policy towards health and environment care, smoking is totally banned within the school premises.
