FACILITIES

ENGINEERING LABORATORY

engineering lab01 The Engineering Laboratory provides the practical training and application for students of their theoretical knowledge of Engineering concepts. Equipped with state of the art engineering apparatus and facilities, it helps students better understand dynamic systems, statistical formulations, parallel processing, among others. Using proper equipment and tools, students are provided with hands on experience on basic engineering operations such as calibration researches or engineering lab02the measurement of pressure, length, mass, force, etc. and/or material processing like turning, polishing and grinding.

With the growing demand for the integration of the technological sciences such as the integration of mechanical and electrical engineering with information technology e.g. robotics, cross-disciplinary research and education are also conducted in the laboratories. Finally, the laboratories are also use to support and promote the creative genius of the students in designing and creating new technological innovations or making new inventions.

HEALTH SCIENCE LABORATORY

health science lab01 Health science is applied science which deals with human health. The Laboratory is an active and integral component of the health sciences program. It supports and complements the curricula by providing the students opportunities to apply the theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes they have learned from the classroom into actual context.

health science lab02The laboratory is designed to simulate a typical clinical or hospital setting. It also provides health equipment and basic medical supplies where students learn a variety of skills. These are complemented with visual teaching aids and other replicas such as skeletons, etc. With these, students are given hands-on clinical practice in a safe environment. This is important because laboratory procedures entail the use of various complex instruments as well as electronic equipment.

SCIENCE RESEARCH LABORATORY

research lab01Laboratory experience is critical in enhancing the students' cognitive and affective understanding of science, hence the University provided research laboratories in the different fields of science namely; Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Biology and General Science. These laboratories have complete facilities, equipment, learning aids and materials e.g. chemicals; etc necessary to support the scientific investigations and research. Hands-on science experiments are research lab02formed as individual or group activities. All laboratories are located in a single building to foster interdisciplinary research at the forefront of science.

Experimental and theoretical research is an integral and important part of of Science. With the science labs, students can conduct testing for the validation of scientific theories as well as discern for themselves established scientific facts. Laboratories also simulate research lab03natural processes allowing students to learn science by experiencing science. Laboratory activities enhance the students processing skills: observing, measuring, manipulating physical objects; analytical skills, reasoning, deduction, critical thinking; and evaluative skills; organizing facts, integration and conclusion. Finally, laboratory experiments also imbibes among students the inquisitive spirit of science. It is curiosity or the thirst for the truth which is the most important in research lab04cultivating life long learning that is essential in our modern society and in the age of information.
