FATHER LOUIS CHAUVET BUILDING
Father Louis Chauvet, the founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres.
The first conspicuous edifice that greets visitors of St. Paul University Philippines is the Father Louis Chauvet Building or FLC. On its fascia are two murals on which are written: ".to discover in mortification and in death, the seeds of new life and unending joy" (Eph. 2:4-6), and "I have no greater joy than to hear that my daughters walk in the truth" (Father L. Chauvet).
Father Louis Chauvet, pastor of Levesville and friend of the poor, the sick, and the less privileged, is the founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres. He was thirty when he came to Levesville, thirty-one when he conceived the SPC in his heart through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and thirty-two when he founded the SPC Congregation. His youth, his total gift of self to God, brightened that obscure, tiny village of Levesville and sent a spark to Chartres and later, to the rest of the world. He was a perfect model of missionary adaptation during the next 16 years of his selfless and dedicated service. At 46, in the fullness of his springtime, on June 21, 1710, he died, leaving his Sisters a profound inspiration to continue the mission.
On the walls of the FLC Building are the words of Fr. Chauvet that echo his deepest desire for his Sisters and the people they are serving: TO WALK IN THE TRUTH AT ALL TIMES. Through this building, we humbly honor and perpetuate the memory of our founder, FATHER LOUIS CHAUVET.
The Holy Child or Grade School building is the institution that focuses on basic literacy and numeracy specifically the so called 3 R's (reading and 'riting and 'rithmetic) as well as foundations in science, geography, history and Pilipino for the young.
The Holy Child building is also known as the Sto. Nino building. Sto. Nino depicts the young Jesus, which is one of oldest Christian icons in the Philippines. And just like Sto. Nino who holds the earth in his hand, every young boy and girl holds the future of the world.
The University places great emphasis on the comprehensive learning of early childhood starting from their transitions from home to school; health and good manners, care of the environment; religion and the formation of Christian morality. Quality elementary education is strategically important for both the future of the person and the nation as a whole. It is at this stage when the young is more flexible for molding. Hence, elementary teachers are equipped not only with an in depth understanding of subject matter or the lessons that they teach, they must also have the necessary enthusiasm to motivate learning, the right psychology to deal and adapt with kids and the virtuous character to be emulated by a growing child.
